 PROJECT COORDINATOR

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pictou County is a charitable organization that provides professionally developed mentoring programs and services for children and youth.

The Project Coordinator will report directly to the Executive Director and will be tasked with a variety of duties ranging from fundraising and general office duties. These duties will be consistent with the Organizational and Delivery Standards as set by Big Brothers & Sisters of Canada in conjunction with local policies.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Minimum some post secondary school studies, with preferably experience in public relations, business or marketing
  • Comfortable in an office setting
  • High level of enthusiasm.
  • Familiarity with computer and programs.
  • Working knowledge of office machinery.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Must maintain a high standard of confidentiality.
  • Must possess good judgment, tact enthusiasm and must be personable, approachable and discreet
  • The ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner in keeping with the image of the organization
  • Willingness to undergo a police clearance
  • Willingness to publicly speak on the radio
  • Willingness to work flexible hours
  • Own or liberal access to a vehicle      

Duties:

Fundraising:

  • Assist in preparation of current fundraisers and all duties related
  • Solicits volunteer help with fundraising activities.
  • Assists with marketing of fundraising events.
  • Phone calls related to all fundraising events

Administrative

  • General office duties including: telephone/personal reception, filing, typing, photocopying, correspondence, etc.
  • Banking duties
  • Inquiries & distribution of packages to clients, volunteers and sponsors
  • Recording data
  • Assisting with call lists to events
  • Report writing
  • Running agency errands

Public Relations:

  • Contacting major sponsors for events
  • Obtaining sponsorship prizes
  • Assisting with media campaign in regards to event
  • Doing live call ins on radio

Activities:

  • Assisting with preparation of agency events
  • Participation at agency activities and events as requested

Other duties as requested by the Executive Director

Contract position 8 months.  Salary $15.00/hour.  Evening and weekend hours may be required.
